FAQs
Where is your matcha from?
Our matcha has been sourced from a small, family-run farm in the beautiful hinterland of Kyoto, Japan, renowned for producing exquisite and premium quality ceremonial grade matcha that is rich in flavour and vibrancy, with a smooth and velvety mouthfeel.
What does matcha taste like?
Matcha has a nuanced flavour, depending on the region, the level of quality and time of the year; however, there are significant differences between ceremonial grade and culinary grade. Lower grade matcha can often taste gritty with a dullness in colour. Whereas with ceremonial grade high quality matcha, you’ll experience a beautifully deep yet bright green that is earthy, has a nutty sweetness and pleasant umami ending.
Does matcha contain caffeine?
Yes, matcha does contain caffeine, however the caffeine content is considerably lower than coffee.
Matcha contains an antioxidant called L-theanine which allows our bodies to process the caffeine differently - it allows for a slower, more steadier release of caffeine, which allows us to stay alert for longer, without the jitters. This is often why matcha is referred to as a “gentle” source of caffeine.
How do I prepare matcha?
Head to our blog where we’ve shared our step-by-step guide in preparing a delicious matcha, using a traditional ceremonial method.
How should I store matcha?
We strongly recommend storing your matcha in a cool, dry place in the tea canister your tea arrived in. During the warmer months, of if your home gets extra warm, you may wish to refrigerate your matcha to prolong its shelf life. The best before date of matcha is generally 6~12 months from date of milling, if unopened. However, once you’ve opened your matcha, we recommend that you enjoy it within 4-6 weeks.
What if I buy your matcha and don’t like it?
As matcha is a consumable product and is perishable, unfortunately we are unable to offer any refunds, exchanges or credit notes.
At Slow Article, we fully stand behind the products we offer and genuinely hope you enjoy them!
Is your ceremonial grade matcha organic?
Our ceremonial grade Okumidori matcha is not certified organic, and we want to be absolutely transparent about that. We’ve carefully selected this matcha for its exceptional quality, smoothness, and naturally sweet, umami-rich taste profile.
That said, our matcha comes from a small, family-run farm in Kyoto, Japan, where traditional and sustainable farming practices are at the forefront of everything that they do. The tea plants are shade-grown and hand-harvested with care, ensuring the highest quality for a well-balanced and enjoyable matcha experience.
