Welcome to a slower, more intentional way of living.
In a world that moves too fast, it’s easy to feel disconnected - from yourself, your surroundings and the simplest joys of everyday life. We started Slow Article to help you slow down, reconnect and bring calm and intention to your daily moments.
Our ceremonial Japanese matcha; our Okumidori is at the heart of this practice. The Slow Article matcha is a sensory moment that transforms a drink into a ritual of presence and reflection, while providing gentle, sustained energy that supports focus. Alongside it, we offer other Japanese teas, tools, resources and timeless objects designed to enrich your home, your rituals and sense of wellbeing.
As we continue to introduce new pieces to our collection - whether a new matcha cultivar, pre-loved vintage items or mindfulness resources - our hope is to inspire intention and beauty and bring quiet pleasures to everyday life. Slow Article is a space where mindfulness, cultural heritage, and thoughtful design come together to help you create a life well-lived, one calm moment at a time.

The Slow Article Matcha
Our ceremonial-grade Okumidori matcha comes from the serene hinterlands of Kyoto, a region celebrated for producing some of the world's finest tea. Cultivated and stone-ground by tea artisans from a seventh-generation family-owned farm, every batch preserves centuries of tradition and delivers maximum freshness and flavour.
Rich and vibrant in colour, our Okumidori has tasting notes of almonds, buttered steamed greens with a delicate floral finish with a subtle umami undertone for a balanced, satisfying tea experience.

Our Story
Matcha, or tea in general, has always been much more than just tea. It is deeply entrenched in the traditions of the Japanese culture, and something that was a part of life growing up in a part-Japanese household. Being half-Japanese and half-Australian, spending my childhood immersed in both cultures, we would frequently travel to Japan to visit family and friends. One of the memorable trips being a 6-month stay where I attended a local primary school. As an after-school activity, I would attend traditional Japanese tea ceremony classes; an ancient practice of mindfulness and living in harmony.
My Japanese grandmother strongly encouraged us to embrace obscure, yet enriching extra-curricular activities (which I’m incredibly thankful for today), and Japanese tea ceremony classes were just one of them.
At the time, I only saw it as a weekly expedition for some afternoon tea. My sister and I loved the wagashi - intricately designed, mesmerising and beautiful, handmade Japanese confectioneries that would be served alongside the matcha that we learned to prepare.
In retrospect, it was just the beginning of a personal journey; the ebb and flow of practicing presence, and living a more intentional life. Recently completing a meditation teacher training course has further deepened my appreciation for rituals like the tea ceremony and the intentionality behind them.
Matcha, and more specifically, ceremonial grade matcha comes with a myriad of health benefits. It is a gentle source of caffeine, a delicious beverage, with a delicate, vibrant flavour and smooth finish.
The process of making matcha is a ritual, a mindfulness practice and an experience in itself. I turn to matcha now, as a tool to enhance my own personal meditation practice. Through the ritual of matcha, I hope it inspires you to slow down, to be present in the moment by moment of life, and to discover your own practice of calm and clarity.
Thank you for taking the time to join me on this journey.
