Our chasen has been sourced from a family-owned workshop in Takayama, Ikoma of Nara, Japan - the birthplace of the tea whisk and home to a 500 year old tradition spanning over 25 generations.
Unlike other mass-produced whisks, our whisks have been carefully handcrafted from a single piece of bamboo by highly skilled artisans under the guidance of the family's master craftsman. Their dedication to the craft is not only evident in the beauty of each item, but in their unparalleled ability to prepare a delicious bowl of matcha.
Soak in hot water before usage.
To clean your chasen, rinse the bamboo tines (bristles) in warm water after each use to remove any matcha residue. Avoid using detergents.
To best care for your chasen, we recommend air drying it by standing it on its whisk holder, the naoshi, to help it retain its beautiful form.
Made in Japan.
